Dalit singer Isai Vani ,singer of the Castless Collective Band, has topped the BBC’s list of 100 most influential women in the world. Isai Vani was noticed for her song ‘I am sorry Ayyappa Nan Ulla Vanthal Ennappa’ which she wrote and sang about the Sabarimala women’s entry verdict and the subsequent protests. Isaiwani is also the only female member of director Pa Ranjith’s Castless Collective Band.
Thenma, Santhosh Kumar and Arun Rajan’s Madras Records and director Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Cultural Center later formed the Castless Collective. The music videos of the Castless Collective highlighting the politics of Ambedkar were highly acclaimed. Isai vani become polular through the song music.
Apart from Isai Vani, Indian para-athlete Manushi Joshi is also on the list.
Apart from them, Bilkis Banu, is also an Indian presence on the list .
she led the protest in Shaheen Bagh against the citizenship amendment act.
